Behavior coaching is a specific model for addressing behavior. The focus is on working with the educator to address their goals relating to student behavior. Coaching is a multi-staged data driven process that includes an introductory meeting, observation, debrief meeting, followed by additional observations and debriefs.

- The participant identifies concerns regarding behavior and determines specific goal(s).
- The observations can usually be completed in fifteen minutes to an hour. The observer does not engage with the teacher or students during the observation.
- The report includes the observation data and comments/suggestions. It is a starting point for the conversation and is a living document. Additional suggestions may be added and questions may be addressed.
- Follow up observations focus on implementation of the skills, techniques or strategies the teacher chooses to utilize.
